The lodge

We are a family from the Uros Islands. This is our home, and we share it with the people who come to stay.

How it started

A few years ago we decided to share what, for us, is everyday life: the lake, the reed, the boats, the food and the stories of our community. That is how Caminos del Titicaca began.

We built the cabins ourselves, with the materials and techniques we learned at home. We did not want a hotel on the lake. We wanted an Uros home where visitors could stay a few days and fall into the rhythm of the island.

It is still run by the family. We pick you up at the port, cook for you, take you out on the boat and answer anything you want to know about how we live.

Run by the family

The person who meets you at the jetty is the same one who makes your breakfast or takes you paddling. We are a small team and host only a few guests at a time, so things are personal and unhurried.

Looking after the lake

  1. Local materials

Totora, timber and cane: what the islands have been built with for generations.

  2. Few guests

A small lodge means less noise, less waste and more room for the lake.

  3. Tourism that stays in the community

The boats, crafts and food come from Uros families.
