Frequently asked questions
If your question is not here, send us a WhatsApp message and we will get back to you.
Where is the lodge?
On a floating reed island in Lake Titicaca, in the Uros community, about 20 minutes by boat from Puno.
Where does the boat leave from?
From Qalapajra port, a small jetty about 10 minutes from central Puno. It is not the main port but a quieter alternative. We pick our guests up there and bring them to the lodge by boat.
What is the nearest airport?
Juliaca airport, roughly an hour by road from Puno.
Do I need warm clothes?
Yes, at any time of year. Puno is cold, especially at night and early in the morning.
What are the house rules?
No smoking anywhere, because the lodge is built from timber, totora and cane. No food or alcoholic drinks in the rooms, and please leave the furniture where it is.
Can I bring my own food or drinks?
For safety and comfort, outside food and drinks are not allowed. We prepare all meals at the lodge and have drinks available.
Is there parking?
No. We are in the middle of the lake, so the only way in is by boat.
Do I need any vaccinations?
No vaccinations are required to visit the Uros Islands. We suggest checking with your doctor about general precautions for travel at high altitude.
What languages are spoken?
Spanish, Aymara and Quechua are spoken on the islands. At the lodge we can also help you in other languages.
What is there to do?
Reed boat rides, visits to the Uros community, walks around the island and, above all, time to enjoy the lake at your own pace.
Is there anything to do at night?
We do not run noisy activities. Nights are quiet, for stargazing and rest.
